Getting to Porto
Unless you are coming early to spend time in Lisbon, the best airport to fly into is Porto, which is roughly one hour from Paço da Glória.
Transportation from the airport to Porto:
Metro: There is a metro station at the airport which goes toward the city center (Line E-Purple Line) It takes about 30 minutes, depending on where you get off, and will cost a couple of euros per person.
Taxi: For ease, you can get a taxi or a shuttle. The drive is about 20 minutes from the airport to the city and will cost roughly 40 euros for a taxi.
Car Rental: You can rent a car from companies such as SIXT, Europcar and Hertz available inside the Porto airport. There is also a company Cael, that often has more cost-effective rental fees, although their rental station is located outside of the airport terminal, about a 5 minute walk.
Just be aware that parking in the city center might be challenging sometimes, so please allow yourself sufficient time, specially if you are coming to our welcome event.
Navigating Porto
Porto is an extremely easy city to navigate on foot and part of its charm and beauty is to explore and get lost in all its wonders.
Porto Card
The distance between one spot and another can be large, we recommend purchasing a Porto Card (https://www.portocard.city/en/), especially if you plan to explore more of the city and visit some highlights. The Porto card gives you access to the public transportation system, discounts and free access to 11 museums for 1-4 days.
Getting to the Venue
Paço da Glória is located approximately an hour outside of Porto. We would suggest getting there by car — either renting your own, or carpooling with others.
On the day of the wedding, we suggest taking a cab to the venue to avoid the hassle of driving!
Porto Accommodations
Porto is very small and walkable, although there are some big hills in some places. You can always get a cab or drive places. Here is a funny map to explore to check out Porto’s neighborhoods.
